expressie by essie & révolutionnaire Swatches & Review

Today I'm sharing with you this gorgeous collaboration collection by essie & révolutionnaire.

Here is what the brands had to say about the collection:

We are super excited to announce that essie is releasing a limited edition collection with Nia and Justice, the faces behind révolutionnaire, a brand & platform committed to celebrating diversity and inclusivity, and fighting for social justice.

As a lifelong dancer, Nia had a dream that every dancer would have apparel that celebrates the skin they’re in. After spending countless hours dyeing dancewear to match her skin tone, she knew it was time for change and launched révolutionnaire’s inclusive clothing line that served to empower all to celebrate the skin they’re in. Now, Nia and her sister, Justice have evolved révolutionnaire into a larger movement to empower individuals to use their dreams to fuel revolutions through a social network for changemakers.

In partnership with Nia and Justice, essie has curated a collection of shades that celebrate révolutionnaire’s mission and origin story - #youressieyourstory. For many years essie’s iconic shade storytelling focused on “our” story of colourful inspiration, but through the partnership with révolutionnaire, essie is asking its community to share how colour inspires them, and celebrating connection through infinite story-telling possibilities. The collection includes 6 shades from expressie by essie, including: take the espresso, cold brew crew, buns up, millennium momentum, daily grind and always transparent.

The collection is available at and Shoppers Drug Mart.

You know that I am a huge fan of neutrals so this collection was perfect! 😍

This was also my first time trying the expressie line so here are some notes and some of my thoughts:

expressie is 8-free and has a vegan formula
- the bottles are taller and more slender but has the essie name right in the glass
- I love the expressie name - such a cute mix telling us it's quick drying AND it's from essie - so clever!
- the brushes are really unique, they are flat, wide and angled and makes application surprisingly easy
- the formulas are opaque and smooth and glide on so nicely
- the names of each polish is on the top of the cap so when I'm searching in my Helmers, it's easy to find what I'm looking for without pulling the polishes out - love the convenience!
- it dried quite quickly so it lives up to the name

Overall I do like the line. I love a good opaque formula so these were excellent for me. 😊

Ok, I think that's enough words for now, let's get into the pictures! Keep in mind that my swatches are all 2 coats and no top coat.

First up, take the espresso is a blackened dark brown creme. Love the saturation on this one. So rich and luxurious! 😍 You could probably get away with 1 coat but I did 2 in my swatch.

always transparent is a clear polish. I did only 1 coat for my swatch.

buns up is a light beige creme. My absolute favourite from the collection as I think it fits my skin tone perfectly. 😍

cold brew crew is a warm mid-tone brown creme with red undertones.

millennium momentum is a muted beige creme with cool undertones. Love this one too!

And finally, daily grind is an eggshell creme with yellow undertones.

Well that's all I have for today! Let me know if you had a favourite in the comments below. 😊

As always, thanks so much for taking time out of your busy day to check out my little corner 😊 Feel free to leave me comments/suggestions/feedback below.
