So excited for today's WNAC!
So you probably know by now that I'm actually super good friends with Kristin (lacquerstyle.com), such a lucky person I am to be able to be friends with someone who's art I admire so much. She's always going to be someone who inspires me so when I throw out #BTN (#bestitwinnails) to do with her, I'm always surprised and honored when she says yes. :)
When we decide to work on a design together, our process is always the same: decide to do it, wait for some time to pass, then remember we were going to do it and then start looking for some inspiration; forget that we are suppose to do it and then remember again and then look for some more inspiration. We then swap inspirations and hope that something sticks out at us that we can both do. I'm just not at her level yet unfortunately so she gets to do simpler ones when they are with me :)
So finally, after we find something inspirational enough, we then start picking colours and that in itself... is just an effort lol! I honestly have no idea how we actually get this stuff done but we do! So after the colours then is the actual design that we finalize together and it's a lot of "so... what do you think?" "I don't know, what do you think?" (I'm actually sitting here laughing because writing it out sounds so ridiculous but this is literally what happens for ALL of our BTN designs haha!)
Needless to say, it's always a fun process to go through and I usually get to try something completely new and out of my comfort zone. Honestly, I don't really do complicated designs on my own, not usually, but that's why I like doing the BTN's with Kristin because then I get to work on more complicated designs than I normally do.
Ok wow! That was a lot of words! I hope it made you smile as much as it made me laugh :D
So we went with a white to nude vertical gradient as our base, and a scattered holo glitter topper.
White: Lacc Beauty - 2005
Nude: OPI - Don't Pretzel My Buttons
Holo Topper: China Glaze - Fairy Dust
Yellow Liquid Latex: Color4Nails - Crystaline Nail Veil
Once my top coat dried the base, a few minutes or so - yes, it's that fast! - , I started working with some black acrylic paint to hand draw in the design.
My flowers are kind of wonky but I love them still :D
We actually agreed on filling one nail fully but I didn't know how to make it filled in without making it look messy and crowded so I just left some gaps. I really like how this design ended up. I sort of just went with it and this is what came out.
So that's it! I hope you like the design as much as I do! :)
